Expected installation date did not happen. Called to say doors hadn't arrived so couldn't fit. Then called to say they had arrived and would fit PM. Then someone else called to say they hadn't arrived so couldn't fit.

Clearview completed our conservatory to the highest of standards . They also knocked a wall down cleaned up after themselves and took away all the rubbish. From day one we knew when they would arrive and when they would leave. The conservatory was valeted inside and out, and any concerns we may have had were dealt with promptly and without quibble. We are totally satisfied with our beautiful conservatory and our whole clearview experience. We would highly recommend their service.

Having our extension built by Orion Windows has...

Having our extension built by Orion Windows has been a project that started in August 2019 and from start to finish took just over a year. This said, the major building work did coincide with a global pandemic! With such a long time period to talk about - here's a long review.... We decided to go with Orion mainly on the basis that with a small child and a busy work life, getting one contractor to deal with the whole process would be easier. Orion are a no-pressure company and we certainly didn't have any problems with the sales process or the design stage. Richard was highly accommodating and dealt with our requirements really well. The designs, fly through tour etc were really great and gave us a fantastic idea of what it would actually look like. As we were building an extension on an extension, it required planning, and again, the process was handled efficiently and quickly. The plans were excellently drawn (thank you Howard) and we had no trouble getting planning through. In terms of hiccups, the main issue was regarding the drain at the back of our house and this did cause some significant delays. We were given 3 different sets of advice as to what would be acceptable from Orion, and a lengthy process took place with Yorkshire Water regarding the rerouting. Admittedly, Yorkshire Water provided the most appalling service ever and were certainly no help in coming up with a solution. The biggest issue during the process was linked to this and particularly regarding the project management of what was a reasonably large project. I'd asked the question about project management when signing the contract and was told that Paul would oversee. Paul, who I have no complaints with at all, is the surveyor for the company, but doesn't work as a project manager. I would suggest that on larger scale projects like ours, some further oversight of the whole thing would be highly beneficial. As I was off work during the lockdown, it meant that I could sort out a few bits and pieces in conjunction with Orion, but if it were the case were the homeowner wasn't proactive or couldn't do these things, it would have dragged on for a very long time indeed. This said, Orion footed the bill for the drainage work that needed to be done as they regarded it as their error not picking up on it for which we are very grateful. Jeff in the showroom was great and when we popped in on a couple of occasions to discuss the problems. Regarding the building, Mark and his colleague Rav (or Martin, or something else - we called him the wrong name for months) who was appointed to do the work was absolutely superb from start to finish. As builders, they were prompt, neat and tidy, friendly and the work itself was of a really high quality. If anything, Mark became my point of contact for most things. There was a bit of delay in getting the windows, roof and doors on due to lockdown, but again, this process was smooth and the fitters Ash and Dom were absolutely brilliant. Our little queries were dealt with there and then and tricky things like the level of the floor and a flat run out to a patio were all sorted. The quality of the fit is excellent and the quality of the product is of a similarly high standard. Again, some delays in plastering due to supply, but also some with rearranging dates which Orion weren't aware of at all. Again though, the people were brilliant. Paul Bell, the plaster has a great reputation in York and this was proved in his work. The finish is superb. Greg the electrician was excellent and dealt with all of our requests and was massively helpful and friendly. Again(!), it was a case of him turning up one day to work but the plastering wasn't finished and he hadn't been told by Orion. We are absolutely delighted with our extension and the space that it's given us in the house. The actual product, the building work, the people and the company values are excellent. As I've explained though, the left hand needs to know what the right hand is doing and this was echoed by some of the contractors on the job. I was told that Orion do lots of lean-to and other big extensions, but I think there is some room for improvement in joining all the project together. As an example, it was great to receive a phonecall from Jeff every day when the roof, windows and doors were being fitted to see how things were going, but our question would be "What about the other 7 months of the project?". The focus seems still seems to be on conservatories (I'm writing a review on conservatoryoutlethome.co.uk for a house extension) and all of the documentation is about 'your conservatory' etc. Thank you to all who were involved (and Tiff in the office who I think probably had me on a black list!) from start to finish. We're delighted with the outcome, but it could have been a bit smoother a ride! Craig and Sarah
