Garage and sash window replacements

We've had Premier Windows and Conservatories previously to fit new windows, doors and conservatory roof to our house at different times over the last 25 years, always with brilliant service.
We now needed 2 new windows in the garage to replace old rotten wooden ones and to replace an old sash window which hadn't been done previously as it is internal to the house due to the conservatory.
We didn't even look elsewhere as we have had such good service in the past. The quoting process was excellent with really good advice about the best way to replace the sash window. The wait time for fitting was not too long (and was even sooner than quoted).
On the day of fitting, the guys arrived on the dot and got cracking straight away. Dust sheets were put down to protect carpets (and even a dust sheet at the back of the garage). The job was completed to a very high standard and everything cleaned up and all rubbish taken away.
The result was better than expected - especially the sash window replacement which we weren't even sure about having done.
Cannot recommend this company enough.

Warranty is worthless.

Entire house fitted with windows less than a year ago, overall they seem ok, but its the after-sales service that you need to watch out for.

Ecofit wont transfer the warranty to a new homeowner, which makes it a limited warranty, not the impressive guarantee that they celebrate in their paperwork. Interestingly, they will also not honour the warranty with the original homeowner if they move out of the house - in our situation, we are in touch with the original homeowner, but Ecofit refuse to honour the warranty, even if the original homeowner was to request the repair.

This was told to me with delight by the receptionist who very quickly resorted to this line almost immediately after our phone call started. One might wonder why a business would offer such a 20 year guarantee, but seek not to honour it at all if the home changes hands; it became clear why this was later on.

One of the handles on the windows we have has come loose - the paperwork states the windows were fitted in June 2024, 4 months before we took ownership of the house, since when the window hasn't been opened until the summery weather began a few weeks ago. During the conversations with the business, not only did they advise the warranty was non-transferable; the contracted party (the previous owner) could not claim on the warranty; but a handle coming off less in less than a year was not an installation or a manufacturing fault, and was not coverable at all; the owner claimed if a handle has come off then it must have been exposed to extreme trauma and there was no possibility it could have happened otherwise (not that they were willing to come and investigate). They also refused to give me information on the part to seek my own replacement.

All-in-all I would recommend if you are looking to have these cowboys install your windows, be confident that they've done a good job from the outset because from the sounds of it they know their windows are fallible and will use any excuse they can find not to honour their guarantee. From their website: "We have total confidence in our products and installation skills, and the length of this guarantee proves that." The truth is, they can offer a 20 year guarantee because they have no intention of actually honouring it and will seek any opportunity to escape it that they can.

I did attempt to resolve this with the firm before writing a review, but they simply ignored it and never replied.

Their commitment to the Glass and Glazing Federation's Ethical Code of Practice it seems are only skin-deep, and the Consumer Protection Association membership must come in a cereal packet because it certainly seems that there's no willingness to uphold these concepts in practice.

An outstanding company

We had a traditionally built garden room attached to the back of our bungalow. The workmanship of all the tradesmen was exceptional and of a high standard. Everyone, including suppliers of equipment and materials, were extremely considerate and polite. We cannot praise this company enough as they had very limited access in which to achieve such a lovely spacious room. From initial enquiry to end of contract, administration was of a high standard. We can't thank them enough for our beautiful room.

A new conservatory roof

We approached 5 Star Windows to get some ideas for replacing an existing, slightly leaking, twenty five year old roof.We were very impressed with the choice offered and, although not the cheapest quote, we decided to proceed as we had heard some good reports about the company.
We were very impressed with the service, the staff and most importantly the finished product.
All completed within the given timeframe and to a high standard.
We will certainly use the company again when their services are required.

Reliable good workmanship

Had my conservatory roof changed from all glass to tiled roof .The workmen turned up on time, produced a high standard of workmanship and left clean and tidy each day
It has made a difference in the hot weather and is far more bearable with the heat

Excellent company and products.

Very pleased with the way the whole process from planning to installation went. No pressure to purchase from the showroom staff just helping us to find suitable products to suit our needs. The work was carried out over two days and work areas were were left clean and tidy at the end of each day. The fitters arrived at the planned times and discussed what they were doing as the work progressed. Very pleased with finished product and would certainly recommend Premier to others.

We engaged ERG to replace our old windows and install new patio sliding doors onto a new decking area.

We engaged ERG to replace our old windows and install new patio sliding doors onto a new decking area. The ERG team were responsive to our requirements, completed the installation quickly and efficiently and left the site perfectly tidy. The work was completed in 2022, and I have delayed this review for 2.5 years in case there were any subsequent problems - there have not been, and we are delighted with the work. We have no hesitation in recommending ERG.
