orangery with roof
My orangery/extension with roof was a complete disaster from start to finish.
The sales man didn't put everything down to match what he was telling me and his measurements were not to what I had asked. The drain surveyor couldn't get the drain lid off and told me I would have to get someone out myself to do it. My friend helped him in the end. He put camera down and found drain next door all ok to proceed. I got told I had to get my radiator removed before the builders could start. Builders wanted to start on a certain date I couldn't get some one to let them in and was told to leave my property open for them. No chance of that as I go to work early. Eventually they agreed to a later time. I had been told to get my own radiator removed and sealed off then got told the builders could get someone. Then when they arrived their person was off ill so I ended up having to get my own. Again having the problem of I couldn't be in as I work full time. Eventually the digging started and wham they hit a drain and broke the pipework. The drain that was supposed to be next door according to the surveyor. This caused me another expense. The base works seemed to be going well apart from the huge mess on my front and back garden, the pavement and also next doors flower bed. There was stuff thrown everywhere. I came home and cried every night. My neighbours started complaining. Panels of my fence were removed and just disguarded when there was nothing wrong with them. I had to fight to get these replaced at the end. They have been replaced but not with concrete posts as were there to begin with. When the walls started going up I noticed they were in the wrong place and not to the edge of my door there was a gap I insisted it was taken down and rebuilt. I was then called to ask if they could come and do the floor I said doesn't the roof need to go on first as it was horrendous rain. They agred and delayed the floor. then after weeks of waiting for the doors I was called to say the floor needs to go down before the roof and doors and I'd said I didn't want it done like that. I replied saying I had asked which goes down first and they had agreed not to do the floor. Nobody seemed to be taking control of the project and I was getting different messages of different people all the time. Floor got done, roof got put on and doors fitted. Door/roofers hadn't got it down to have patio doors taken out bless them they did it for me as I said it had been agreed. On looking at the floor there were gaps everywhere and one hole the size of a brick in one corner. The electrician came his instructions were for three big lights and three down lights by the door.My instructions were one centre light. I had to buy the light yet on my paperwork a light was provided. Wiring complete plasterers arrived again argument about what was to be plastered. They left the plugs open but plastered over the light wires and left no hole. Electrician had to measure and cut hole and then pull wires which had been tucked away by the plasterers. Three times a site inspection person was coming and never arrived. My friend turned up had days off work for this for nothing. An engineer came to clean up the site and fill the floor holes in. He was unable to wash the drive and clean the front as the weather was bad. When I mentioned this to the office I was told a clean up isn't normally included yet it was down on my schedule I hadn't asked for it. As I said nobody knew what anyone was doing. My grass is ruined in the back garden as they put insulation on it and left it through all the rain etc and other rubble and also some of my edging stones were taken out and just left. To be honest I was glad to see the back of the whole lot and signed to say finished. I am very disappointed in the work. When I first went about this build I was expecting a level floor with my existing one, edges of walls finished off and plastering where patio doors were. Nothing to this extent was done. I paid a lot of money for something that I have to spend a lot more on to get it finished. I have a friend who have had the same done but by a different company twice the size of my extension and paid half the price. I deserve some sort of compensation for the mess and stress it has caused me. My project will now have to remain unfinished for a while as I don't have the money to complete it. I will not be recommending 5 star to anybody in the future. And I've probably missed something off my list of complaints as there was so much.

Five stars to all concerned
We found the whole process to be efficient and friendly. At the various stages, all the tradespeople were polite, competent and hardworking. The admin staff were always on hand and answered our queries promptly. We would not hesitate to recommend this company and feel we made a good choice.
We appreciated the option that we could visit the showrooms and view the choice and quality of the products.

Conservatory Roof and French door replacement
Very happy with conservatory roof replacement which was originally a polycarbonate roof and now is fully insulated, plasterboarded and plastered and finished to a high standard. We particularly like composite grey tile roof finish and the 9 LED spot lights fitted with dimmer switch. Already the room feels warmer even in the cold weather with no heating on. The replacement black French doors also look very good. Very impressed with all the workmen and project kept to the agreed plan. At the end of each day all rubbish was removed and room left tidy.Workmen throughout the project took plenty of photographs which made the building regulation process very straightforward

Good products, friendly staff and tidy fitters - some comms and product knowledge issues
I had 5 Star for 2 projects at my home. 1st: Replacement porch door, internal front door, bay window and bedroom window. 2nd: New conservatory roof.
The request they sent for this review said honest, so I will lay everything out below.
But to summarise everyone I spoke to was friendly and helpful, the work was good and fitters were tidy. Downside of some poor communications, several delays and the seeming lack of knowledge of products between different areas of the business.
When having my 1st consultation, the gentleman was sent to next door, however he was very informative and offered us advice on door and window choices, offered deals and advice on triple vs double glazing. He advised going to the showroom, which I have to say was a waste of time. Nothing we liked at the showroom was being sold anymore, and the items he offered us weren’t on display in the showroom. Large discrepancy between brochures and showroom. E.g we would have loved the keypad locks we saw there but they are no longer offered. We had another appointment and agreed some basics and booked in for a measure up appointment.
I called the office to check the address was correct on file and was told it was. Person who came to measure up went to 2 wrong houses due to the address not being changed on printed paperwork.
Measure up went well for both projects and we went ahead with both and paid the deposits.
Doors and windows project: When the fitters started, bay window and bedroom window went well, porch door caused an issue as when they fitted the new door it would not open fully inwards and caught on the inner door. Fitters said that it would be resolved when the new internal door was fitted. It was, by 1mm, no exaggeration, but the inward swing of the door basically made the porch unusable. I queried this with the office and they sent people out to assess and agreed to replace with an outward opening door. I was told that measuring the inward swing wasn’t previously part of their contract, but now it is. That is a plus as I would not have thought to consider that as an issue as a layman. General snagging issues with the other work were usual things and resolved when they rehung the door. One snag was that there were caps missing from screws on the internal door. The 1st fitters, the engineer and the installations manager all said these were required. The 2nd fitters who came to rehang the outer door said that our doors don’t have them. Again, seems like a weird lack of knowledge about their products across staff. As I say, everyone was helpful when resolving issues, but it did drag the process out from end of October to beginning of January, with an appointment in December where the engineers just did not show with no notification. This delayed other projects I had planned in the house.
Conservatory roof project: 1st fitting date had to be cancelled due to supplier not delivering the roof the day before, caused a 2 week delay impacting other projects to install seating electrical works in the conservatory. Although this is their supplier rather than 5 Star, still something to be aware of at the start. Roof was fitted, team was friendly and tidy. I asked about a beam that looked less flush with the roof and was told it was fine. The following day I spotted some gaps and queried with the office, again, fast reply and engineer was sent out. He rectified the gaps I had seen and I repeated my question about the beam not being flush. He said yes, it would need knocking down. Contrary to what the fitter had said. This was done, but doesn’t give me faith in everyone’s knowledge/capability if they answer the same question differently. Downside to the roof is that there is a ‘airflow gap’ to allow air to circulate. This means the conservatory is still freezing in winter. When the main reason for replacing was to keep it warm in winter, it would have been good to have been told about this at booking, rather than once it was fitted.
Overall I would use 5 Star again as the work was of good quality and the fitters were tidy. I would definitely allow more time for delays and issues etc and do more research on products and fitting myself so I know more about what questions to ask.

Beautiful space
We had most of the windows and back door replaced and a Orangery added to the back of the house. We were very impressed with the whole service from seeing an image of what the completed project would look like to the end result. The Orangery is a lovely addition and has received many " I like this" comments! Thank you to everyone involved.

Superb installation of a high quality composite front door for Mr & Mrs Hodgkinson. We had used 5 Star previously at our old property and had no hesitation in using them again. The fitter was polite and a tidy and efficient worker.

A quality product eventually
We were very impressed with the products when visiting both the Worcester and Kidderminster showrooms and having read the reviews had high expectations. However we had a new Aluminium back door, new porch windows and a Palladio front Door fitted on 24/8/2022. The new Palladio door arrived with a damaged handle, and the Aluminium door had a large chip on its face and a very poor attempt to repair had been undertaken. This chip was not noticed until fitters had left. On further examination off the read Aluminium door it was evident that it had not been finished very well and the white silicone used to seal around the door was very badly finished. On examination of the Palladio door it was identified that this had been damaged on the bottom. 5 star were contacted and the service managed came and inspected the next day. To say he was not pleased is a bit of an understatement, he completed a report and offered a repair, which we accepted on the rear Aluminium door, but not the Palladio, as this is a very expensive item. Negotiations for a replacement were undertaken by 5 star and the supplier, and two be fair 5 star were excellent in pursuing this, however it did take months. The final outcome was a new door Palladio door was fitted and the poor fixing/finishing of the porch frame was resolved. The rear door was professionally repaired and now looks very good. after its original instalation.inally today the replacement handle was fitted so some 5 1/2 months. The finished product looks very good but its been a very long journey to get here.
