    Clearview and Ultraroof 380 installation

    I had two jobs undertaken by Clearview last year. One of these was a 3.5m x 4.5m Ultraroof 380 roof fitted to my existing Conservatory at a cost of £16,500. Clearview were not the cheapest but I liked the sound of a managed project and they got my money based on that and the fact that their sub-contractors were all Ultraframe trained. I now have a good new roof but the path to this end-state was traumatic. The roof that was delivered had an incorrect pitch due to Clearview incorrectly transcribing the architect’s direction onto their Ultraframe order form. My old roof was in a skip before this was noticed. A two day/one week job became a three week/month job with my furniture under tarpaulins for the duration while a new roof was made. My first Project Manager mysteriously disappeared and my second went on holiday leaving my two separate teams of multi-skilled sub-contractors to brief me on what was actually happening based largely on their desire to complete the job, get paid and move on.
    I ended up a couple of hundred pounds out of pocket due to cleaning costs, purchase of tarps and a cancelled break and had to re-schedule my own painters and decorators. Once the job was completed I had the temerity to ask Clearview management for an explanation regarding communication and to consider reasonable compensation for their mistake. The Contracts Director advised me, through his receptionist, that I could have a written apology if I wanted but compensation was not a Clearview policy as things go wrong in the building trade. I accepted the offer of the letter, as record of statement of fact, which the Contracts Director didn’t even bother to sign.
    Be quite clear that if you contract Clearview you are paying for a Project Manager which in my case was worth nothing. Be quite clear that, even if a mistake is made that has nothing to with understandable building snagging, as in my case which was office mismanagement, you will receive nothing regardless of any actual inconvenience and distress caused. In the Contract Director's words “We want to make it quite clear that we do not endorse a compensation culture”
    Caveat Emptor: If you want an Ultraframe roof there are many Utraframe qualified suppliers. Ring Ultraframe and get some addresses of trained Ultraframe contracters close to your home. P.S. the roof is great.

    The best service

    Clearview built for us a conservatory and we love the addition to our house. Right from the very start we felt that we would be getting a quality building and they have not let us down. When the building work began we felt that we were looked after by our project leader Steve Moulton, who kept in contact with us at every stage of the build. We could contact him at any point and he was right there to deal with whatever our questions were. I would highly recommend them for home improvements.

    Beyond helpful!

    The staff couldn’t have been more helpful showing us the things we asked about, but also suggesting, and showing us, alternatives.
    The place has loads of examples of their windows and roofing systems built full size and there’s really no better way to see what the options are!

    Thank you so much to all the team at Clearview- we are so pleased with our new orangery, the design team made sure that bricks, roofing tiles and style of build match our existing home perfectly. A special thank you to Steve for co-ordinating the whole procedure and being so quick to respond to any queries that we had. We can highly recommend this company.

    Would not recommend!

    I would give this company a 0 star rating if that was possible.

    From the very start, we have experienced a hell of a lot of issues. At the point of sale, you are sold a dream, everything will be project managed and will be stress free. That could not be further from what we have experienced so far.

    So, to begin with we had a coal shed demolished as part of our project. Asbestos was identified on 26th June 2023 and was left unwrapped on our driveway until 17th August 2023! 8 WEEKS!!! It was only removed after we sent a complaint in via email. This not only put our health at risk, but it is breaking the law!

    Whilst the windows were being installed, one of the glass panels cracked. This window is yet to be replaced many weeks later. We have not received keys for the window locks either.

    Our roof was left exposed for an extended period of time, this caused a very large leak into the new extension.

    The front panel to our gable roof window was measured incorrectly at the point of survey. I understand that mistakes can happen, but it appears that they measured the front of our house, rather than the back. Therefore incorrect measurements were taken. One of the bosses came around to rectify the roof, during this time he just kept saying he doesn't do discounts. This made me think that many things go wrong and many people ask for compensation.

    We paid for the manhole to be relocated, this was done but then Clearview charged an extra £2976, despite being in our original contract! On the subject of the manhole, the contractors made an absolute mess of the surrounding area. Clearview are refusing to tarmac, their solution is cement and then paint it black... this isn't partially aesthetically pleasing.

    Rubbish was left all over the garden, this included bottles, screws/nails. We have a dog, so we have had to clean up after them each time they have visited!

    The extension was supposed to have been built half a brick in, this was to accommodate our gate. However, the extension has actually been built level with our property. Clearview were unwilling to rectify this until very recently. I am yet to see what is going to happen with the gate, as somebody is supposed to come tomorrow. So watch this space.

    The extractor fan in our bathroom has been rerouted through the roof. All looks perfect, until you look in the loft and see that it hasn't even been connected. This has caused mold in our bathroom!

    Scaffolding was left on the house for way longer than necessary. This prevented us from having other jobs done such as render, outside electrics etc. After our complaint, somebody appeared a couple of days later to remove it. Funny eh.

    Communication has been none existent throughout. Well, that is until we put a complaint in. The project manager has lied throughout, claiming he has been calling us when he has not. We have had to contact all contractors ourselves. There have been occasions where we did not know whether anybody was going to turn up as we were not given a plan etc.

    We sent in a complaint and a lady actually came to our property to discuss the complaint. She said it was only the 3rd time in 20 years working there that she has done such a thing. This shows how appalling our experience and build has been so far. Not only has this build been extremely stressful for us, I have suffered from an illness that I have due to the added stress, my partner has had anxiety attacks.

    There is so much more to write, but I am running out of energy and patience with the whole thing. We are still waiting for several jobs to be done, so I can't really comment on the finished product. One thing that I do know, I will never ever recommend this company to anybody.

    If we do not receive a satisfactory response, we will be contacting Trading Standards.

    Fantastic Customer Service

    A great warranty repair visit today by Mark and Ethan. They applied themselves from the get-go, did a good job and left the site spotless. An additionally impressive response when you consider our claim was made two weeks before the guarantee expired. That is good customer service.

    From the start of ordering, Jonathan was very patient, helpful and explained everything as much as possible and really professional. When it came to date of fitting, I was really happy with Mark and his assistant Ethan because his workmanship was of a high standard and he paid attention to detail which is rare these days, thanks very much Clearview.

    New Front Door & Side Screen

    The Clearview team were extremely professional in their installation of our new front door and side screen. They ensured we understood the is and outs of the key and locking device. They were extremely friendly and also diligent in cleaning up before leaving our house.

    Top Job, great team and work ethic

    Just wanted to provide feedback on the service received from Clearview... We are in love with our new Orangery! We seemed to have numerous hurdles during the conveyance stage and, sadly very nearly Canceled. The team at head office were understanding and helpful. Adam Howard who I think is the QS, managed our issues with a 1st class service. Safe to say I am happy we gave him the opportunity as we wouldn't have the best-looking Build on the street!
